Leeds Domestic Violence Helpline
0113 246 0401
This helpline is run as part of the Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS) contract and our staff deliver it 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer confidential support, information and access to emergency accommodation for women and men experiencing domestic violence. The lines are also available for agencies wanting to make a referral to one of LDVS or Leeds Women’s Aid services or to learn more about the options available to people experiencing domestic abuse.
Group Support for Women
All of our groups are relaxed, informal places where women have the chance to meet others who have been through similar experiences. The groups and programmes are facilitated by experienced LWA workers who can also provide advice, signposting and referrals to further support.
Many women have worries and doubts about coming along for the first time. If this is the case, please call our helpline – 0113 2460401 for a chat.
Resettlement
The Resettlement Service supports women, who are living in temporary accommodation due to domestic violence, to be rehoused in safe and permanent accommodation.
Women using the service may be living in a refuge, Leeds City Council emergency accommodation, staying with family and friends, or have recently fled to Leeds.
Resettlement support may be for a few weeks or a few months, on a case-by-case basis.
Our Resettlement worker can meet with women to discuss their housing options and make a resettlement plan. She will offer emotional and practical support towards rehousing, and signposting to other appropriate services. Meetings take place at the current address where it is safe to do so.
To make a referral to the Resettlement Service, please call the LDVS Helpline on 0113 246 0401.
Safe Houses For Trafficked Women
A N N E L I P R O J E C T
We run a safe house service for women who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation. Some women have been trafficked internationally, whilst others are British-born women who have been trafficked internally within the UK.
We offer safe housing and specialist support including help with issues around immigration, sexual health, mental health, substance use, money, housing and the criminal justice system. We also provide access to specialist counselling, interpreting, training, health and education services for women in refuge.
This service has been developed in partnership with other agencies including West Yorkshire Police, Supporting People and other local charities.
We do not accept self-referrals into this service, so all referrals must be made by an agency such as the police, the UK Human Trafficking Centre and other voluntary sector agencies. Referrals are only taken during office hours for this service and it has its own referral form, available by ringing 0113 246 0401.
