Bradford Action for Refugees

40a Piccadilly, Bradford, BD1 3NN

As of 1 December 2015, Bradford Action for Refugees became apart of Refugee Action.

Currently, we are still using the name Bradford Action for Refugees [BAfR], but for all other intents and purposes we are an office of Refugee Action. Our service in Bradford includes:

  • information about rights and entitlements to benefits, housing, health care provision for asylum seekers
  • advocacy
  • helping to access “ESOL” classes
  • providing a confidential listening ear to those who are isolated and linking them with Refugee Community Organisations and other support groups
  • supporting asylum seekers to access support from mainstream agencies such as Jobcentre Plus, GPs, education services etc
  • advice for those suffering from racial harassment and issues of social isolation and community cohesion
  • employment and re-qualification advice
  • Children and Families Project: We offer individualised support for asylum seeking and refugee families. This includes one to one support work to offer support and advocacy through the asylum process and support the family to integrate into their local Bradford community
  • after school family groups to reduce social isolation
  • an allotment group
  • trips and excursions around West Yorkshire during the school holidays
